| Q1 : |
Can
I upgrade my LifeBook to fastest available CPU?
|
| A1 : |
The processor cannot
be upgraded since it is embedded on the motherboard.
|
|
| Q2
: |
I am planning to
use my LifeBook outside the country where I bought it. Do I need
to purchase something to use the AC adapter safely?
|
| A2 : |
If your AC adapter
has a label which states "Input 100-240V" like the one
below, the AC adapter works within a range of 100 volts to 240
volts. That means you can use your adapter in countries with a
110-volt standard, like Japan, as well as in countries with a 220-volt
standard, like those in Europe.
Input 100-240V 50-60Hz
100-144VA
Output 16V=3.36A
You only need power plugs on the ac adapter. If the label on your
AC adapter states "Input 100-120V" and you would like to
use it in Europe, you need to use a voltage transformer to use your
PC safely.

| Q3
: |
How long can I expect
the lithium ion battery that comes with my LifeBook to last?
|
| A3 : |
Generally speaking,
the battery is a consumable item. Normal notebook batteries have
a life span of approximately 1 year, depending on how much it is
used and in what kind of environment it is used. It is possible
to see that the battery is beginning to fail when it does not accept
a full charge.
|
|

I do?

that is safe to use on the screen, from most computer stores.

| Q9
: |
How do I restore
factory defaults on my system if the hard drive is formatted?
i.e. If I put my own purchased operating system on the notebook
and later want to return to the version of Windows XP which came
with the system, is there a restore disk or on-line download
which will help?
|
| A9 : |
Your unit is equipped
with a program called Drive Image SE (DISE). This program stores
an image of what your hard drive looked like when the unit left
the factory.
To run this program, go to your Start menu, then to Programs and
to Drive Image SE.
Once there go to Options at the top left and click on Restore Factory
Backup. This will restore the factory backup.
If you decide to format your hard drive, do not format or remove
the D: partition, as this is where the DISE backup is stored. If
you do remove this backup partition, the only way to restore the
unit to the way it came from the factory is to send the unit to our
repair center.
|
|
| Q10 : |
My P series notebook "locks
up " frequently, more so during a DVD or downloading music
but pretty much in any application. The only way to unlock it
is to unplug and take out the battery. I did used the DISE to
factory settings. The problem is still occurring. This has happened
since day 1.
|
| A10 : |
What we could suggest is running msconfig
on the unit freeing up system resources to have your computer function
better.
1. Click on Start, Then click on Run and type in msconfig and press
enter.
2. Click on the Startup Tab.
3. To remove unnecessary programs you will have to uncheck the boxes
and you can only uncheck one at a time.
4. After this you will need to click on Apply to have these settings
changed.
5. Close all windows in front of you and you will then be prompted
to restart the unit.

| Q11 : |
I have a Fujitsu Lifebook E 6560
with the DVD upgrade. I travel all over the world, but it is
only region 2 compliant what it the manufactured make of the
DVD drive. Can I make it multi-region?
|
| A11 : |
Unfortunately, the drives shipped in
LifeBooks are hardware region locked and we are unable to supply
any utility to remove this due to legal reasons.

|
| Q12 : |
I have LifeBook C-325 and I had
formatted it. When I try to start the notebook with the Win 98
startup diskette, everything going OK but the CD-ROM does not
work even though the CD-ROM is read as E drive. What can I do
to make the CD-ROM work again?
|
| A12 : |
To install a retail version of Windows
98 make sure that you have changed your BIOS settings to BOOT up
from the CD ROM.
To do this, restart the unit and keep tapping the F2 key. Once in
the BIOS setup arrow over to BOOT at the top of the page, arrow down
to Boot Sequence/Boot Device Priority and press enter.
Highlight the CD ROM with the arrow keys and press the spacebar to
move it to the top position, insert your windows 98 CD and press
F10 to save changes and exit. The unit should now boot up from the
Windows 98 CD.

| Q13 : |
My children may have spilled something
on my laptop and it won't boot up. It became unresponsive, even
to cntl-alt-del. Last message was "backing up for going
to sleep", never seen this screen before. Can you advise?
|
| A13 : |
It could be an issue of the sensor
pads underneath the keyboard. It needs either cleaning or replacing.
Let’s try something first to rule out the possibility of
it being software related.
1. Go to Start - settings - control panel
2. Double click on the system icon - click on the device manager
tab - then on the plus sign beside keyboards. Now we are going to
click once on the keyboard that is listed, to highlight it.
3. Click on the remove button on the bottom of the screen.
4. Then yes to all configurations, and then yes to reboot system.
If you do not get the pop up window asking you to reboot the system
you will manually restart the computer. When the computer restart
it will re-install the keyboard and drivers. This should hopefully
resolve your keyboard issue.

| Q14 : |
I am going stay in Hong Kong for
a long period. Since Hong Kong and USA have different power standard,
I am wondering if any AC adapter I need to purchase to use my
laptop in Hong Kong.
|
| A14 : |
The AC adapter, which came with your
notebook, should have voltage detection. It detects the voltage
the adapter is receiving. The only item you should need is an adapter
to be able to plug into the wall.
|
|
| Q15 : |
When I plug in the AC adapter, the
laptop will not fully power up. All that I get is the boot screen
and then it dies. I have a good battery, but there are times
when I would prefer to use the power plug instead.
|
| A15 : |
Try removing both the AC adapter and
the battery from the notebook. Let it sit overnight with those
out and then reconnect and try to boot in the morning.
|
|
| Q16 : |
I am in trouble with having S-video
output when using F11 key to toggle S-video on and off.
|
| A16 : |
To activate the S-Video port there
are a couple things you need to do first.
1. Right click on your Desktop and click Properties. In there go
to the Settings tab and click on Advanced.
2. In there go to the Displays tab and you should see a picture of
a TV with a red button on the top of the TV and the button should
go green.
3. Then press Apply and then Ok and the picture should appear on
the TV.

|
| Q17 : |
I have purchase a GPS system and
it cannot find COM 1 on my computer. I cannot get the computer
to recognize the GPS. It is a Delorme System.
|
| A17 : |
COM port 1 is the same as COM port
3. This port should be taken up by your Modem. You should be able
to add a virtual COM port to install your GPS system.
Also, you could uninstall your modem, don't restart the computer,
install the GPS device, and then restart the computer. What this
should do is assign the GPS to COM port 1 (or 3). After you restart
the modem will be assigned to COM port 4 or 5.

|
| Q18 : |
My battery will no longer charge,
the computer only works when plugged into ac power. Suspect I
need new battery.
|
| A18 : |
Before ordering a new battery you may
wish to try this. Remove both the battery and AC Adapter. Let the
unit sit for 15-20 seconds. Replace the battery and let the power
drain completely from the battery. Attach he AC Adapter and let
the unit charge for eights hours.
If this does not resolve the issue, you will most likely need to
obtain a new battery for your Fujitsu Lifebook.

|

TV with an s-video connection and the only thing that will come

|
| A19 : |

panel
Double click on the display icon
