Q1 : I installed the English version of the operating system on my FMV series PC and lost some drivers. Can you help?

A1 : FMV-products are designed and sold exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, and the only supported operating system is the Japanese version of MS Windows®. Therefore, the English version of operating system is not supported and Fujitsu only provides the Japanese version of device drivers.


Q2 : I updated the operating system to Windows® 2000/Me(Japanese Version) and lost some drivers. Where can I download them?

A2 : Please refer to our Download site.
Note: Drivers which have been either updated or modified from the original drivers are available there, and the download site for FMV-series products are written only in Japanese.


Q3 : Can I get a manual in English for my FMV-BIBLO notebook?

A3 : Unfortunately, there is no English manual for FMV-BIBLO series available. FMV-products are designed and sold exclusively for the domestic Japanese market only.


Q4 : Can I get a non-Japanese keyboard for my FMV-BIBLO notebook?

A4 : Unfortunately, we don't provide any service of non-Japanese keyboards for FMV-BIBLO. FMV-products are designed and sold exclusively for the domestic Japanese market. It comes with Japanese operating system and service and support is limited to Japanese only.


Q5 : I am looking for the driver for a Fujitsu LAN Card, FMV-*** . Where can I get the driver?

A5 : You can download the driver for Fujitsu LAN card with model names "FMV-***" at FMWORLD Driver Search if the driver has been updated. Please note that this page is written only in Japanese and only updated drivers are available there.
If you cannot find the driver there, please contact us. The model name of your LAN card is required for us to assist you properly.


Q6 : I need a recovery CD to reinstall the operating system on my FMV-BIBLO series / FMV-DESKPOWER series PC. Can I purchase a recovery CD?

A6 : You can purchase a recovery CD for FMV-BIBLO series and FMV-DESKPOWER series products by calling FM Information Service. The availability depends on the stock status. There is no shipping service of recovery CDs to outside of Japan.


Q7 : The BIOS was infected with a virus and I would like to replace it. Where can I download BIOS?

A7 : BIOS for FMV-series products can be downloaded at FMWORLD / BIOS Rewriting. Please note that the site is written only in Japanese. BIOS you are looking for may not be available depending on the model.
Note: You will have to rewrite the BIOS at your own risk since we have not tested the BIOS with your unit.


Q8 : I am looking for a manual / user's guide for my FMV Series PC.

A8 : Manuals / User's guides can be downloaded at FMWORLD.NET: for the consumer model users, visit here. for Business model users, please visit here.
You can download manuals to the best use of your PC here, and please note that all the sites referred to above are written in Japanese.

Q9 : Is it possible to make the modem in my FMV-BIBLO notebook work outside of Japan?

A9 : No. The modems in FMV-BIBLO notebooks have not been applied to overseas regulations.


Q10 : How can I purchase FMV-series products?

A10 : FMV-Series products are sold only in Japan and there is no shipping service outside of Japan.
In Japan, FMV-Series products can be purchased at retailing stores or at Fujitsu Web Mart -online store (this site is written only in Japanese).


Q11 : Where should I send my FMV computer for repair?

A11 : In principle, the customer needs to bring the product to our Personal Service Center for repair. Unfortunately, a courier service for repair is not available.


Q12 : If my product is under warranty, can I use the repair service free of charge?

A12 : The warranty may not cover the repair or some charges will arise if the reported problem has been caused by defects or damages from casualty, accident, transportation, misuse or abuse, neglect, alterations, service or repair by a company other than Fujitsu or Fujitsu affiliates, improper installation, operation or maintenance, improper connections with peripherals, or other causes not arising out of defects in materials or workmanship.


Q13 : Will Fujitsu send the product overseas after it is repaired?

A13 : Unfortunately, no shipment abroad is available.


Q14 : Is the operating system installed after the HDD is repaired?

A14 : Installation of the operation system needs to be done by the customer. The HDD sent back to you will be empty. You need to configure the unit back to the original state of purchase yourself by using your Recovery CD or Driver CD.


Q15 : Is there installation service available?

A15 : Unfortunately, we don't offer any software installation service.


Q16 : How long does it take to get my FMV product repaired?

A16 : The service and turnaround time depends on the country and the product. Generally, the turnaround period from the time the unit is received at the repair center, and the time it is shipped out will be around 7 days, but may be delayed if parts have to be obtained from abroad.


Q17 : Can you tell me the cost of repair before I receive service for my FMV product?

A17 : You need to carry in your product to our Personal Service Center first. After the service center receives the product and identifies the problem, we will report the cost of any repair to you. Depending on your convenience, you can cancel the service after that without any cost.


Q18 : What is the difference between FMV-BIBLO series and LifeBook series?

A18 : FMV-BIBLO series is exclusively for the Japanese market where as LifeBook series is for the global market.
LifeBook series comes with the International Limited Warranty that enables customers to receive service and support worldwide. However there may be some exceptions.
FMV-BIBLO series is designed exclusively for the domestic Japanese market. It comes with Japanese OS and service and support is limited to Japanese only.


Q19 : There are 3 dead pixels on my LCD screen. How can I get it replaced?

A19 : Dead pixels are a characteristic of LCD screens and should not be interpreted as a defect. As stated clearly in the warranty card, the minimum number of dead pixels allowed is seven.


Q20 : How can I put my PC into Hibernate(save-to-disk) mode?

A20 : To enable the hibernation feature, click on Start, select Settings, then select Control Panel. From the Control Panel, select Power Options, and then the Hibernation Tab. The "Enable hibernation support" check box must be checked to use that function.
To use the hibernation feature, click on Start, select Settings, then select Control Panel. From the Control Panel, select Power Options, click on Advanced tab, and then select Hibernate from the pull down menu for Power buttons.


Q21 : I forgot the BIOS password. How can I remove it?

A21 : Due to the high level of security on Fujitsu PCs, the removal of passwords can only be performed in an authorized Fujitsu Service Center. There is a charge for this service. Please contact your company of sales.
